The Challenge for this design was to create a sword that is assembled glue free as well as mixing both solid body modeling from Solidworks and organic modeling in Zbrush. The joints are designed to slot in easily and hold the model together entirely glue free. After I modeled the blade and hilt joints Elliot Viles Modelled the skulls in Zbrush. Once he completed this I then took the files and used mesh mixer to blend his organic parts with my engineered parts creating the perfect marriage of two disciplines. Once the model was printed and assemble it was finished beautifully by Catherine Wood, a member of MyMiniFactoy.com's talented post processing team.
This model is printed at 0.2mm with 10% infill. with the joints which didn't fit in easily i filled the edges and gently hammer the parts in with a rubber mallet. the largest piece is the main hilt with the rams head which is 217mm x 206mm x 120mm. there is an image to show the best point of orientation for the least amount of support.
